Péter Pál Pach: Equidistribution of subset sums

We address a question of Katona and Makar-Limanov, by showing that in an abelian group of order $2h$ the $h$-element subset sums are asymptotically (as $h\to \infty$) equidistributed. A key ingredient in our proof is an inclusion-exclusion formula using Kronecker-delta functions to encode the distinctness condition.
