Satadal Ganguly: The shifted convolution sum problem and "Beyond Endoscopy"

"Beyond Endoscopy" is a proposal of Langlands for studying poles of $L$-functions using the trace formula. A modified version of the original proposal has been useful in obtaining analytic continuation of the $L$-functions of various functorial lifts. In this talk, I will demonstrate that a similar technique can be used to obtain strong bounds on shifted convolution sums with two cusp forms on $GL(2)$. I may discuss some extensions if time permits.
